Licenses

HumHub is available under two licenses. Pick the one that fits your project, or combine both, depending on how you use HumHub.

Open Source

GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 only

SPDX: AGPL-3.0-only

The default license for the HumHub Community Edition. Full source freedom under a copyleft license with a network-use clause.

  • Source code freely accessible, modifiable and redistributable
  • Modifications offered as a network service must be published
  • Ideal for open-source projects and self-hosting

HumHub Commercial License

The right fit if you build HumHub into a proprietary product, or distribute commercially without having to publish your modifications. It is part of the Professional and Enterprise Edition and applies for as long as your subscription is active.

  • One license per installation, worldwide, bound to your active subscription
  • Your own adaptations of the software remain your intellectual property
  • Included with the Professional & Enterprise Edition

Which license is right for you?

The Community Edition is available under the AGPL-3.0-only only. The Professional Edition and Enterprise Edition are dual-licensed: AGPL-3.0-only plus Commercial License. You pick which one applies to your use case. Not sure which fits? Get in touch, we’ll help.
