This page describes the cookies and similar storage technologies used on humhub.com. We keep this short on purpose: we only use what we strictly need to operate the site, and a single anonymized analytics tool.
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Cookies allow a site to recognise repeat visits, remember preferences, or measure traffic. Some cookies are necessary for a site to function; others — like analytics — are optional and require consent.
We use Matomo — an open-source, self-hosted analytics tool — to understand how visitors use this site so we can improve it. Matomo runs on our own servers in Germany; no data is shared with third parties. IP addresses are anonymized before storage.
The cookie is set on .humhub.com, so a visit to www.humhub.com, the documentation, the community forum, or the customer portal can be recognised as the same anonymous visitor. This lets us understand the full journey across our own properties — it is not shared with any external site.
| Name | Expiry | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
_pk_id.* |
13 months | Stores an anonymized visitor ID to recognise returning visitors. |
_pk_ses.* |
30 minutes | Stores temporary session data while you browse. |
Matomo is only loaded if you accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings in the footer.
Our contact form and pricing calculator submit to our API. When automated abuse is detected, the form briefly loads the Altcha proof-of-work widget. Altcha runs entirely in your browser, does not set any cookies, and does not transmit personal data to third parties.
We do not use Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or any other third-party tracking or advertising service on this site. No data is shared with advertising networks.
You can clear or block cookies for this site at any time through your browser settings. For details, see the help pages of Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Edge.
Blocking the analytics cookie does not affect the functionality of this website.
You have the rights granted by the GDPR — including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object. See our Privacy Policy for the full overview and how to contact us.
